A social initiative from Central has been named as one of the UK’s 100 best breakthroughs for its significant impact on people’s everyday lives.
The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama is delighted to announce that it has been awarded a grant of £414,620 from the Leverhulme Trust in support of student scholarships and further support for its internationally recognised work in Applied Theatre.
On Monday 10 December, Central hosted its annual Graduation Ceremony at The Royal Festival Hall.
Central is delighted to congratulate our many graduates nominated for WhatsOnStage Awards this year, the only major theatre awards in which audiences are able to judge across all categories.

On Sunday 18 November, Central was pleased to welcome alumna Dame Judi Dench back to Central to formally open the Dench Studio, named in honour of the members of the Dench family; Dame Judi, her brother Jeffery Dench, and her daughter Finty Williams, who all trained at Central.
Congratulations to Central’s Dr Ella Parry-Davies, who has been awarded a Postdoctoral Fellowship by the British Academy to pursue her research project ‘Home-makers: urban expertise in the Philippine diaspora’.
Alumni have been receiving nominations across the board for the annual BroadwayWorld UK Awards (2018). The awards are given by public vote to celebrate their favourite longest running shows and new productions.
Central is committed to providing support to students and graduates who wish to start up and develop their own commercial, social or charitable enterprises. The School conducts workshops over the course of the year open to all students and offers competitive funding to graduating students at the end of the academic year as a part of its dedicated Central Start Up and Enterprise Fund.
The entire Central community is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of esteemed alumna, Honorary PhD and Vice President of the School, Cicely Berry CBE.
On 30 August, Advance HE announced the National Teaching Fellowship Scheme Awards and Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence winners. Fifty-four new National Teaching Fellows were named, alongside the fifteen winning teams in the Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence.
The Arts and Humanities Research Council has awarded funding for doctoral training studentships to the London Arts and Humanities Partnership (LAHP), led by UCL.
