On Friday 31 July, BAFTA announced the winners of this year's Virgin Media British Academy Television Awards, recognising the very best programmes and performances of 2019. We are extremely proud to be able to share and celebrate news that Central alumni won in two of the four acting categories.
Throughout the Summer, Central has been working alongside a number of partner organisations as well as schools, colleges and universities across London to make two unique, remote summer school opportunities – Get Creative at Home and Get Scene at Home – available to young people who have been stuck at home due to COVID-19.
Congratulations to Professor Maria Delgado, Central’s Director of Research, who has received the Career Achievement Award in Academic Theatre from the Association for Theatre in Higher Education (ATHE).
Congratulations to Central’s final year Theatre Practice students on their BA (Hons) Theatre Practice 2020 Exhibition. The annual exhibition provides a chance to share and celebrate the accomplishments of graduating students from all twelve courses of the Theatre Practice programme, a degree programme offering a deep understanding of the collaborative process of performance design and production.
Students from Central’s BA (Hons) Acting Collaborative and Devised Theatre and BA (Hons) Acting Musical Theatre Class of 2020 have performed in the School’s first-ever online Industry Showcases for undergraduate acting.
Congratulations to the MA Acting for Screen team behind the 2019 short film Lab Rat, which has won the Best Film, Best Cinematography and Best Director Awards at the Roswell Sci-Fi Film Festival.
Central is delighted to announce the launch of its brand-new podcast, Discover Central!
Dr Ella Parry-Davies, Central’s British Academy Postdoctoral Fellow and a BBC/ AHRC New Generation Thinker, has partnered with the Kanlungan Filipino Consortium and the Refugee and Asylum Seeker Participatory Action Research charity (RAPAR) to release a new report documenting the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Filipino migrants in the UK.

The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, together with partner organisations including the Royal Northern College of Music, University of the Arts London, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and the My Dementia Improvement Network, is pleased to announce that it has been awarded over £1.4 million in joint funding by the Office for Students and Research England.
