The shortlist for the 65th London Evening Standard Theatre Awards, celebrating outstanding achievements from the London stage over the last twelve months, has been unveiled and we're delighted to celebrate news that alumna Cecilia Noble has been nominated for the Natasha Richardson Award for Best Actress!

At the start of our new academic year, we are excited to announce the opening of the new Central Student Centre – a one-stop hub for Student Services at Central which offers the convenience of meeting all student support needs in one place.

In October, Central welcomed members of the industry to the School for its 2019 Hosts Afternoon.  The annual event provides an opportunity for current students who are about to embark on their industry placements to meet with their hosts and to get tips and advice from staff, alumni and leaders in the field on making the most of their time in residence with leading arts organisations and schools.

From 2-3 October, Central hosted Collisions 2019, an annual festival of practice research in performance.

Congratulations to Central’s Dr Nicola Abraham and a team from the NHS's Imperial Hospital Trust who, together with a cohort of Central students and alumni, have been shortlisted for two awards for their intergenerational process drama projects. The projects included several years of 2nd year BA DATE collaborative outreach projects in support of patients living with and receiving care for dementia, a VR MA Applied Theatre project with patients who have experienced a stroke, a MA Applied Theatre film project for acute dialysis patients and her intergenerational project work with the NHS and 4 schools in London.

On Thursday 26 September, Central was pleased to host Stage Sight’s September Members’ Forum, and to welcome industry representatives to the School to share ideas and best practice around fostering a more inclusive, representative sector.

On Thursday 12 and Friday 13 September, The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and Shakespeare’s Globe co-hosted two days of events to comabat racism in theatre practice.

21st Century Acting: Race and Inclusive Practice - What Next?
