‘LOVE THIS F***ING WAR!!!!’

It’s 2080. War has been raging for twenty years and the landmass once known as Europe is now The Grid. Lost within that grid, in a deserted ice-cream van, sits a young girl who’s known nothing but war all her life. This is Brecht’s famous war-epic told through the eyes of Kattrin, Mother Courage’s silent daughter and most desperate observer.
Every decision Mother Courage needs to take, brings out a different version of herself. In this never-ending cycle of war, between drone attacks, rave parties and relentless battle over resources – who will prevail, the opportunist or the protector? And what price will Mother Courage and her children pay?

All songs composed by Joseph Evans and Tom Sharkett to lyrics by Anna Jordan after Brecht. In keeping with the play’s vision of our future, this production’s design concept is focused on recycle, reuse and reduce and worked almost exclusively with such materials and costumes.

In loving memory of Sarah Davey Hull, Course Leader of MA Acting Contemporary 2005-2020.

By arrangement with Alan Brodie Representation Ltd.
