Inge Hyman, friend of Central and supporter

What was your first connection with Central?

My contact with Central was through our friend, the late Sir Donald Sinden, who was an Honorary Fellow of Central.  My late husband, Robin Hyman, met Donald socially and then we found out he was the very warm and caring next-door neighbour of Robin’s ancient uncle and aunt. Donald insisted we come with him and see the new building plans and their achievement at Central.

Thinking back, what was it that prompted you to include a gift for Central in your will?

I became conscious that students in the arts were no longer getting grants.  It was clear that although those in other spheres might receive financial help, the lack of support in the arts prevents many from choosing to train at any Arts or Drama school.  In addition, I fear that the costs of living in London are prohibitive for those without the personal financial backing needed to fund their move to the capital.

I was brought up in Manchester and that part of the country has always had a place in my heart.  The gift in my will enables me to do something for artists from that part of the country who want to train in London and need financial help to do so.

And finally, do you have any advice for anyone who is in the early stages of thinking about including a gift in their will for Central?

Just think of the wasted talent in and outside of London and just do it!
