Maya is a Movement Director and Choreographer. She trained as a Contemporary Dancer at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance (2015 - 2018), and then went on to train with the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company Dance Journey Program (2019). As part of her training on the MA Movement: Directing and Teaching, Maya has taught the BA1 Actors in stamina classes, as well as the BA1 Collaborative Devised Theatre Students (CDT) in Dance. Maya has most recently Movement Directed ‘Grande Finale’ by Copi, directed by Than Hussein Clark. She also Movement Directs within her Photography and Filmmaking work. As a Choreographer for screen, Maya co-choreographed Episode 3 of Soumik Datta Arts’ series ‘Silent Spaces.’  The winner of Best Short Film at Manchester Lift-Off Global Network Film Festival, ’Sometimes They Sing’, (directed by herself and Andy McCredie) was also Movement Directed by and Choreographed by Maya.

Maya is passionate about Dance Theatre and Physical Theatre. She is particularly excited by creative working opportunities that are very physical, narrative-based, conceptual, and allow for abstract and expressive movement. With her professional work as a Photographer and Filmmaker, Maya is a multidisciplinary artist. She is passionate about working as a Movement Director and Choreographer for film, TV and other digital media based works that allow her to be in creative working environments that exercise and inspire her skills in film, photography and other screen-specific works. She is curious to use her Movement Directing skills to inform narrative and character in live dance and screen-dance productions.
