Vivien Sherrard Smith (February 28, 1941 – November 28, 2023)

The youngest of three daughters of Henry Erskine Sherrard and Cecilia Williams-Freeman Sherrard. Married fifty-one years to Franklin B. Smith of Camden, SC. Mother of Hope C. Smith of Charlottesville, VA. Evacuated as an infant to Portballintrae, Northern Ireland during Great Britain’s fight for survival in WWII, she grew up in Belfast.

Tutored by Oliver Reynolds, she graduated from The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in 1960 and acted on BBC television and professional stages throughout England and Scotland for twelve years until she married and moved to the United States. Always at or near the top of her class as a student, she pursued her career with enthusiasm and intelligence and conducted her family life with an instinctive blend of tradition, good humor, and positive purpose.

She was deeply loved by her husband and daughter and will remain forever a part of their lives. May God bless her and keep her.
