Sheila Amy Latham, nee Ramsell 1933-2023

Sheila Amy Latham, nee Ramsell, attended Central School from 1950-1953, having been schooled at Goudhurst in Cheshire. She died on 11 February 2023 at a care home in Mid Wales, close to her home of 47 years on the banks of the River Dyfi. Her husband of 70 years, Peter, died 9 days later and they are succeeded by two sons and twin granddaughters.

The family have grown up knowing how much Central School meant to Sheila all her life. Her creativity and talents nurtured there were pivotal all through her long life and we now enjoy witty poetry and amateur dramatic plays she has authored over the years.

Sheila married Peter Latham in 1953 and entered the world of army family life. Their move to Wales in 1977 was their 26th change of address and fourth country since 1953.

Drama, speech, delivery, correct breathing, pause and poise - these are things her family and friends so associate with her, all traced back to her time at Central.

Sheila attended the Reunion in September 2000 and was thrilled to have met up with so many wonderful colleagues.

Her love of stage, of poetry and verse, of costume design and performance - all these things the family would like to thank Central School for what it meant to Sheila and by her, given to many others over many decades.
