Throughout the Spring Term, Central’s Outreach Team has been busy working with young people across the country. This has included:

  • Delivering workshops across schools in both London and Leicester.

  • Providing online continuing professional development (CPD) events for teachers.

  • Welcoming over 100 young people to Central’s Spring Term Shows for free, including offering post-show Q&A sessions.

Speaking about their involvement with Central, a teacher at West Thames College said:

“Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to see two outstanding productions at Central.

Our students used both pieces as a stimulus for a variety of follow-up work. The innovative staging of both pieces has influenced student work considerably. The amount of discussion and conversation, prompted by the productions, is still ongoing.

In short, our visit to Central has proved invaluable to curriculum enhancement and development.”

The Central Outreach Team also worked together with MA Applied Theatre Students on placement, Student Ambassadors, Dr Kathrine Sandys and Dr Selina Busby, in partnership with the Donmar Warehouse, to offer a series of workshops over the Spring break which engaged with 240 young people.

And as a part of this year’s BA (Hons) Theatre Practice Exhibition, the team welcomed students from George Green’s School and UCL Academy for a private tour. The young people were thrilled with the work on display by Central’s students, with one even commenting that the costumes were better than what had been worn at this year’s Met Gala.

Victoria Edwards, Central’s Access and Participation Manager, said:

“It’s been a busy and fun term for the outreach team.  We’ve loved being able to bring schools and colleges back into Central to showcase the amazing and inspiring work of our students.”
