Overview

Texas teenager Vernon Little finds himself in an avalanche of absurdity and corruption as he is blamed by the media and his own small town community for a crime he didn’t commit.  As he scrambles to wriggle free of this injustice, his desperation leads him across the border to Mexico and finally into the ultimate battle for truth, with his life on the line.

By arrangement with Nick Hern Books.

Director’s note: The events of this play begin in the aftermath of a school shooting but it’s important to note that we have set the majority of the action in 1999.  The play was published in 2007, based on a 2003 novel.  We fully acknowledge that in 2019 shootings in America have provoked a deeper, more urgent dialogue and we respect and honour the hundreds of thousands of victims of US gun violence in the past 20 years and before.
