Portrait of Marcel Whyte

As part of Central’s Keep Creating Appeal, we’re speaking to students who have received Scholarships and Bursaries whilst studying at Central, to showcase the impact that these have on them, and their future careers.

Marcel Whyte is an MA Acting student, he spoke with us about his recent feature film project.

What projects are you currently working on?

My most recent project was playing the lead role in an indie feature film which is currently progressing well on the festival circuit and is keeping me busy.

I was drawn to the project because of a beautiful script, and a genius director. This project was a chance to become a part of something special. That is what gets me up in the morning: a day filled with ‘what if’s’ and making opportunities to fulfilling dreams and co-creating realities.

What does a typical working day look like for you at the moment?

Up very early, yoga or a jog to start my day, then a full eight hours of intense and in-depth mind stretching acting classes. After school, I’ll tend to read or take part in martial arts training.

You received a Scholarship, what impact has this had on you and your studies?

Without this scholarship my training would not have been possible. I am very grateful knowing that the kindness and generosity of people made this possible.

What would you say to those thinking of donating funds to help create Scholarships and Bursaries for Central’s students?

I would say - knowing that the world needs more love and kindness; that any act of love and kindness can only produce more love and kindness.

What advice would you have for anyone looking to follow in your footsteps?

Ask yourself, what does your heart tell you to do? Then do it.
