Big Give Christmas Challenge 2023

Introduction

The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama has been selected to take part in the Big Give’s Christmas Challenge, which will be raising money for scholarships and bursaries for Central students.

This means all donations between 28 November and 5 December will be generously matched by a number of generous pledgers including the Reed Foundation. This means that for every £10 you donate, Central will receive £20 for scholarships and bursaries.

All proceeds will go towards scholarships and bursaries for Central students, namely the Central Bursary Fund which are awarded annually to students in need, with no restrictions. Graduates of our Teaching, Education and Applied Theatre courses can also chose to direct their donations to the Sally Mackey Bursary Fund via the Big Give, which provide bursaries for Applied Theatre students.

Our fundraising goal is to raise £70,000. Bursaries and Scholarships are a vital source for many students who rely on this funding to make the most of their experience at Central.

“This bursary has made me feel far more secure in my financial situation, and that will, in turn, enable me to get the most out of my course. London is a wonderful but incredibly expensive place to live, and I feel more equipped to navigate life as a student here knowing that I have this support.” Carmen Fyfe Paulo, BA (Hons) Acting - Collaborative and Devised Theatre

“Your donation has enabled me to cut my working hours by a whole week of full time shifts, meaning I can go on placement, gaining that unmissable opportunity the school provides to gain experience. Further to that, I can spend my days focusing on the reading allocated for the course, which is significant! I have epilepsy which affects my attention span, so such readings, especially those of a higher academic level, take me a long time to read. So now my time is a lot less stressful, having the time I need, so thank you.” Alys Pearce, MA Applied Theatre

Meet Abi Rutter

Abi Rutter chose to study at Central because of her passion for using applied theatre to support young people's well-being, and spoke with us the transformative impact of Scholarships in providing opportunities for students in the early stages of their careers.
