On Thursday 9 and Friday 10 May, Central hosted the 2019 BA Theatre Practice Exhibition, celebrating the accomplishments of graduating students from across all twelve courses on its BA (Hons) Theatre Practice programme.

The 2019 Olivier Awards took place at The Royal Albert Hall on the evening of Sunday 7 April, and we’re both delighted and proud to see that a number of the winning productions included involvement, both on and off stage, from Central graduates.

On the evening of 12 March, Central welcomed academics, artists, industry friends and partners and members of its wider staff community for an evening of events focusing on fellowship and providing a space for a proper conversation and the re-charging of energies and imaginations.

Central is pleased to announce that it has been selected by Research England as one of 21 Higher Education Institutions in England to take part in the new Knowledge Exchange Framework (KEF) pilot group.

Nominations for the 2019 Olivier Awards were announced on Tuesday 5 March, with 100 productions eligible to win Olivier Awards across all of the major theatre categories. Many of these nominations include performances, direction and stage management, voice and dialect coaching and lighting, set, sound, costume and movement design from Central graduates.

On the evening of Sunday 3 March, The 19th Annual WhatsOnStage Awards Ceremony took place during which Central graduates were recognised and celebrated for their contribution, both on and off stage, to British theatre.

Congratulations to Central’s British Academy Postdoctoral Fellow, Dr Ella Parry-Davies, who has been named a 2019 New Generation Thinker.  Dr Parry-Davies is one of ten New Generation Thinkers to be selected by BBC Radio 3, BBC Arts and the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC).

On Wednesday 27 February 2019, The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama was visited by its Royal Patron, HRH Princess Alexandra. The visit marked the official opening of the School’s new North Block building and provided the Princess with an opportunity to meet staff and students and observe a variety of student work.

On Monday 21 January 2019, Central Staff and Students began their first official week of classes in the School’s newly completed North Block building.
