Profile

Emily is an actor trainer who works extensively with both student and professional actors across both theatre and musical theatre, specialising in character development and text based working practises. Having studied at East15 Acting School and Goldsmiths, University of London, Emily completed her Master’s in Actor Training and Coaching at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama back in 2018. Since then, she has taught acting at several institutions including Bird College, RCSSD and University of Portsmouth, as well as being an Associate Lecturer at the University of Chichester teaching acting on their Musical Theatre and Acting for Film courses. Emily has also worked extensively with new writers and has directed shows across several of London and the South Coast fringe theatres including Southwark Playhouse, Pleasence Theatre, Leicester Square Studios and New Theatre Royal Portsmouth. Emily was also an Associate Artist and founding member of Directors Cut Theatre Company Ltd back in 2015 when it was established.

As well as working as an actor trainer, Emily is also currently undertaking a Practice as Research PhD at the University of Portsmouth wherein her research focuses on decentring current modes of making practices with the field of Musical Theatre to help diversify the landscape and materials being produced, placing actors of colour at the heart and centre of the creation process.
