Central is excited to partner with The Stage for the first in-person Future of Theatre Conference

Now in its third year, the industry event will take place on March 29th, 2023 in Central’s Embassy Theatre. It will also run online, as in previous years.

Future of Theatre, the award-winning conference, brings together theatre professionals from across the world and provides the space to have vital conversations, reflect, challenge and share ideas for a stronger theatre sector.

This year’s Future of Theatre conference will include seminars on topics such as shows and artistic practice, new writing, audience development, community and workforce. There will also be discussions that challenge and take a creative approach to determining the future of the industry and talks to help individual practitioners with their career progression.

In its first two years, 2021 and 2022, the online Future of Theatre conference brought the entire theatre sector together, welcoming hundreds of attendees from across 21 countries. The digital events have offered an array of keynotes, interviews, presentations and panel discussions featuring the industry’s most influential voices including Andrew Lloyd Webber, Nica Burns, Matthew Xia, Amanda Parker Paule Constable and Athena Stevens as well as representatives from the Royal Shakespeare Company, the National Theatre, the Society of London Theatre, the Welsh National Opera, Universal Music, Equity, Inc Arts UK and The Audience Agency.

In 2022, the Future of Theatre conference also featured a keynote address given by Central’s Principal, Josette Bushell-Mingo OBE

Of this year’s event, Principal Josette Bushell-Mingo OBE said:

“Central is delighted to host this year’s Future of Theatre conference and to welcome industry and thought leaders to our beloved Embassy Theatre. We face challenging times, and it has never been more important to support each other and to have the discussions that will safeguard the future of our sector and communities.”

Alistair Smith, Editor of The Stage said:

“We’re hugely excited to be hosting our third Future of Theatre conference at Central. Not only is it wonderful to be staging the event in person for the first time, but it feels incredibly apt that it has found a home inside an institution that is responsible for training the next generation of theatre talent and developing the future of theatre on a daily basis.”

Tickets for both the in-person and digital portions of the conference are now on sale, but spaces are very limited. 200 free tickets are also being made available for freelancers.
