On Wednesday 3 March, recipients of The Evening Standard Future Theatre Fund were announced, and two of our recent graduates, Bethany Duke and Madeleine Young, were named finalists in the categories of Audio Design and Visual Design, respectively.

Bethany Duke (BA (Hons) Theatre Practice 2019) is currently a resident Sound Designer at Almeida Theatre, and her credits include Scenes with Girls (Royal Court) and One Jewish Boy (Trafalgar Studios). Find out more about Bethany’s work on her website.

Madeleine Young (BA (Hons) Theatre Practice 2019) is a scenic painter whose credits include My White Best Friend (Bunker Theatre) and Botticelli in the Fire (Hampstead Theatre). Find out more about Madeleine’s work on her website

The Evening Standard Future Theatre Fund was launched in association with TikTok, and in partnership with The National Youth Theatre, and was set up to support the next generation of British theatre stars who are struggling due to the impact of the pandemic. The twelve recipients, announced at an online ceremony hosted on YouTube, were each awarded a sum of £10,000 to support their future projects and allocated an industry mentor.

The rigorous selection process was presided over by an industry panel including Helen McCrory, Kwame Kwei-Armah, and Andrew Lloyd Webber, as well as Central alumnae Amy Ball, casting director at the Royal Court Theatre, and Dame Vikki Heywood, chairwoman of Mountview and Festival UK 2022.
