Text over a black background reading "nominations announced Olivier Awards"

On Tuesday 28 February, nominations for the 2023 Olivier Awards were announced and we are delighted to be able to celebrate news that several Central graduates have been recognised this year across a wide range of categories, including:

  • Faith Omole, nominated for Best Actress in a Musical for her work on Standing at the Sky’s Edge, currently running at the National Theatre.
  • Antony McDonald, nominated for Outstanding Achievement in Opera for his design of Alcina at the Royal Opera House.

Central is also proud to celebrate the nominations for outstanding productions that were produced or directed by Central alumni. Nominations in the category of Best New Play include, For Black Boys Who Have Considered Suicide When the Hue Gets Too Heavy, co-directed by Central graduate Tristan Fynn-Aiduenu, alongside both Patriots and To Kill a Mockingbird, which were both produced by Central’s President Sonia Friedman

Finally, two productions nominated for Best Musical Revival were also both produced by Central alumni; Sir Cameron Mackintosh’s My Fair Lady and Sonia Friedman’s Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Oklahoma!

We would like to congratulate all of the alumni nominated for Olivier Awards this year, and wish them the best of luck for the ceremony, which will take place on on Sunday 2 April.
