2019 Emmy Awards

Nominations for the 71st annual Primetime Emmy Awards, which celebrate excellence within the television industry, have been announced and Central is delighted to congratulate our many alumni recognised this year. 

Leading the way with a record-breaking 32 award nominations is HBO’s critically acclaimed Game of Thrones, for which Kit Harington (BA (Hons) Acting 2008) has been nominated in the category of Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his starring role as Jon Snow.

Other alumni nominees are:

  • Jared Harris (Stage 1988) in the category of Lead Actor for a Limited Series or Movie. He was nominated for his performance as Valery Legasov in another of HBO’s productions, the miniseries Chernobyl, which received a total of 20 nominations.
  • Rufus Sewell (Stage 1989) in the category of Guest Actor in A Comedy Series for his appearance in The Marvelous MrsMaisel. 
  • Kristin Scott Thomas (B.Ed (Hons) Speech and Drama 1980) in the category of Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her performance as Belinda in Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s Fleabag.

Winners will be selected by the 25,000 Emmy members and will be announced at a ceremony on Sunday 22 September at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles, California.  Central wishes all of our graduates who have been nominated this year the very best of luck!
