About Kay Frosdick

Kay Frosdick (1968 - 2020) grew up in a back-to-back terraced house nextdoor to the famous Burton’s factory in Leeds. With a bedroom view across Burmantofts and Harehills, her brother and sister listened as she danced, sang, and monologued as the walls of her attic bedroom stretched and burst forth with her voice as she practised twenty ways to say “You’ve eaten my cake?!”

Despite few opportunities for creative outlet within her school environment, she was prolific in the number of productions she took part in on the amateur theatre circuit with the Leeds Thespians, LIDOS and Proscenium Players. She studied at Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art from 1990 to 1993 before going on to work in theatre and television.

She developed into an actress with creative movement and expression. She had such energy as an actor, in her eyes, and in her body. One fellow creative said “that made her compelling. You had to meet her energy on stage.”

Ill-health prevented her from reaching her full potential. Kay experienced her life through the theatre and shared that love with those around her. She would have struggled to attend drama school without financial support. She wanted to leave a gift to others so that those struggling financially might be enabled to do the same.
