Other Ways to Support Us Introduction
Thank you for exploring how you can make a difference to the students at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. This page explores a number of ways to give outside of our main bursaries, so that Central can continue to ensure that individuals benefit from the best training and graduate into an industry that will be richer for their input.
If you want advice about where your support will make most impact, or the list of options below does not quite match what you had in mind, please contact a member of the Development Team at development@cssd.ac.uk
Ways to Donate
For more information about donating, including for US residents, visit our How To Donate page.
Create Scholarships and Bursaries
“In most cases, a Scholarship or Bursary is the deciding factor for a talented student in making the choice between studying at Central, or a different school… or studying at all. They can really make a significant impact on a young person’s life, and career prospects.”
Callum Tilbury, Alum, Harold Pinter Scholar
Scholarships and Bursaries help break down the barriers which deter applicants from some groups underrepresented in the industry.
With your help, we can offer financial assistance to more talented individuals so that they can accept the offer of a place at Central, complete their training and make a difference in the world through performing, making and civic engagement.
With your gift we can:
- offer Named Scholarships of £5,000+
- offer Bursaries of £1,000 - £5,000
Named Scholarships
A donation of £5,000 or more enables Central to create a Named Scholarship which can be directed towards a course or type of student you wish to support.
For the current list of Named Scholarship available to new offer holders and for continuing students, see our Scholarships, Bursaries & Awards page.
For information on supporting a Named Scholarship, please contact development@cssd.ac.uk.
Enhance the experience of our students
To be leaders in their field, our students need to train in an environment that matches the evolving industry needs and to learn from the best people in the sector. We need to invest in state-of-the-art facilities; attract and retain the best teachers and collaborators; and provide robust student support services, such as mental health care.
Your gift can help us provide the best training environment for our students by investing more in our facilities, staff and support services.
We invite you to contact at development@cssd.ac.uk to enquire about donating to enhance the experience of our students.
Accelerate our Access and Inclusion programme
“Central’s outreach is important as it allows underrepresented voices to experience live theatre, to be able to speak to current students and teachers to find out what it’s like at drama school and how some of those students got there”
Isaac Hart, Alum, Clare Rich Scholar
As one of the world’s leading performing arts conservatoires, it is vital that our outreach work continues to engage and inspire underrepresented groups in the creative arts. We are working hard to ensure that every year hundreds of young people have the opportunity to learn about conservatoire training and to experience and to engage with the rich variety of opportunities in the creative arts.
With your support we will reach an even greater number of young people.
We invite you to contact us at development@cssd.ac.uk to enquire about donating to support to our Access and Inclusion Programme.

Donate In Memory of a Loved One
We will work with you to help you make a fitting tribute to help you remember them in the most meaningful way that we can accommodate. Perhaps they were a Central student, and you want to set up a tribute page to share with your friends and family to fund a bursary in memory of your loved one. Or perhaps they lived locally and enjoyed watching performances at the Embassy Theatre and you want to make a one-off gift to support our student experience.
We invite contact us at development@cssd.ac.uk to enquire about donating a gift in memory of a friend or loved one.
Donate an object or other ephemera
We are very pleased to accept objects that will enhance our students’ teaching, learning and research.
Please contact the Development team on development@cssd.ac.uk with details of the object(s) that you would like to donate, so that we can consult our colleagues before accepting them. Due to factors such as space constraints, we are only able to accept objects that have been approved by the relevant colleague.
