Biography

Luis is a Movement director and teacher and a performer with background in acting and dance. Born in Spain, Luis moved to Poland where he joined the performance research project “The dynamics of metamorphosis” organized by the Grotowski Institute, Wojciech Bogusławski Theatre, Lublin’s Art Center, neTTheatre, and the Association of Artists “Near East”, completing his European Volunteer Service, working with the director Pawel Passini, and training with members of Ultima Vez, Chorea, and Gardzienice.

As a freelance performer he has collaborated with choreographers and directors in Portugal, such as Silva Real, Francisco Camacho, Miguel Pereira, Mariana Tengner Barros, Tiago Rosa-Rosso and Silke Z. As a movement teacher and director, he has worked with several universities, community and youth groups in Spain and Poland.

His interest lies in how to revisit art forms as a tool for social and political change, as well as the exchange between cultures and popular styles. He is studying questions of cultural appropriation, inclusion, freedom, racism, and identity from an embodied queer movement perspective.
