Viola started gymnastics at the age of seven and at eleven she entered the Academy of Circus Arts, where she trained for 4 years. She graduated as a Trapeze artist, having trained in ballet, contemporary dance, flying trapeze, handstands, floor acrobatics and acrobalance. In the following years she taught acrobatics to children and adults at circus festivals and circus schools in Italy. While studying for a BA in Chinese and English language, Viola continued to perform as a busker and aerial artist. She graduated with a dissertation on “Ancient Chinese Circus Art through Historical Finds and Literary Sources”. In the same years, she attended a one year-long course in dance theatre at Dance Gallery in Perugia, and acting with Teatro di Sacco. As she moved from circus towards theatre and interactive dance art with fine artists, Viola attended, amongst others, workshops in Contact Improvisation, Dance Trapeze stage with Elodie Donaque, seminar/lab with Eugenio Barba on The Shadow Zone.  Her on going practice included Yoga, Qi Gong, Tai chi and Dao-Yin. At present, Viola is discovering how to use her movement background to inform actors’ movement and training whilst on the movement course.
