Susanna is a movement director who works across the disciplines of dance, theatre and film to explore how the body tells stories through movement.

She has an MFA in Movement Direction from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama where she taught movement for the MA in Advanced Theatre Practice. She has also worked as a movement director on productions for the Lyric Hammersmith, the Bush, NYT at the Arcola Theatre.

Having found dance as a source of physical release and expression throughout her childhood, she returned to contemporary dance practices after university, to train and perform with Candoco Dance Company, the company for disabled and non-disabled dancers whom she has now worked for to deliver integrated dance training to young people. This sparked a deep interest in inclusive movement practices which she is now developing with Access All Areas, the theatre company for actors with learning disabilities. She is also working with Turtle Key Arts and the Bush Theatre to deliver theatre and dance projects to special educational needs schools.

Studying Movement Direction at Central allowed her to draw together different elements of contemporary dance technique, improvisation, Laban, somatic and developmental movement techniques to discover a practice for working with actor movement.

She was able to put this into practice to teach Actor Movement at the London Studio Centre and on the BA Acting course at St Mary’s University.

Susanna is driven by a desire to offer the people that she works with a space for their own individual expression within movement, and to create moments for meeting themselves and others through physicality.
