Sachi Kimura is a teacher, movement director and director.

Her passion for theatre was ignited at the age of 14, shortly after she went to enrol at Drama school to train to be an actor. Professionally she worked in musical theatre and plays as a performer in Japan from 1991 to 1998. In 1998, she attended the Western Acting Course at RADA – this proved to be a life changing experience and opened her eyes to an actor training methodology available in the UK. After which she decided to study and assist improvisation and movement tutor Jeremy Stockwell from 2001 – 2003 with the aim of creating change in Japanese actor training. Since 2003, she has been regularly teaching stage presence and movement in the UK and Japan.

In the UK, she has expanded her performance career in physical theatre by collaborating regularly with companies including Clod Ensemble, Fevered Sleep and Gecko Theatre. She also has acted/performed in films and TV in UK, Europe and Japan.

Since 2010 she has been creating her own devised work under the auspices of Flying Eye Company, and has received the Argus Angel Award for her show GLOW (2015) and  a Brick Award nomination for Cutting the Cord (2011).
