Born in London, Rebecca has held a passion for music, dance and theatre from an early age. Now working as a freelance Movement and Opera Director, her practice is inspired by her love of interdisciplinary performance, uniting her backgrounds in classical music, fine art and dance. Having trained in classical ballet, contemporary, jazz and classical Indian dance as well as musical theatre, her particular interest lies in the movement development of trainee opera singers and promoting the movement potential within operatic production.

Since graduating from Durham University in 2015, she has worked and trained in opera as a Director, Assistant Director and Movement Director, with companies and institutions including the Royal Opera House, British Youth Opera, National Opera Studios at Welsh National Opera, Dorset Opera Festival, the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, Blackheath Halls Opera and Edinburgh Studio Opera.

Within her developing practice she hopes to continue promoting the need for movement training and vocal and physical integration for young opera singers.

I have previously trained in movement teachniques including Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Musical Theatre and Classical Indian Abhinaya.

I am currently developing my practice in Yoga, Feldenkrais, Contact Improvisation and Historical Dance.

I am a classically trained soprano and violist with basic piano skills.
