Profile

John Fitzpatrick is a playwright and filmmaker. He also lectures in filmmaking and acting at Universities including Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, St Mary’s and UAL. 

He co-wrote the short film WREN BOYS which was nominated for a BAFTA and a BIFA as well as being on the long list for the 2019 Oscars. It has won best UK short at the UK Film Festival, best short at The Galway Film Fleadh and the Jury award from Film London and has screened internationally at festivals including BFI London Film Festival, SXSW and Sundance. 

THIS MUCH (or An Act of Violence Towards the Institution of Marriage), his first full-length play for stage, was produced at the Soho Theatre 2016. It has subsequently been produced internationally and will be performed as part of Chicago Pride, 2020. 

In 2017, he was awarded a grant for playwriting from the Peggy Ramsey Foundation and his latest play REARED was produced at THEATRE503 in early 2018.

He has directed music videos for Mercury nominated band The Big Moon and the short film DOG which screened at festivals around the UK including LSFF.
