Anti-Racism at Central Action Plan

The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama understands that we have been complicit in systemic and institutional racism. We want to do better. We will work to create an organisation where all staff and students feel valued. Our action plan will allow us to create meaningful change within our organisation.

We commit to working with our community of staff, students and alumni to achieve these goals. We will update our action plan, resources and webpages to demonstrate our progress.

Anti-Racism Action Plan

The Governor’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee endorsed the Anti-Racism Action Plan in June 2020. The Committee has been holding owners of actions to account to ensure they are delivered.

The Inclusion Office has been meeting weekly to monitor progress against all the actions and our Year End report is available below.

Work has now started on mapping out a framework for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion at Central and developing an Institutional Strategy for Inclusion that will align to the work of the Academic Think Tank and the development of a new School Strategic Plan.

Race Equality Review

In 2018, the Board of Governors commissioned an external and independent race equality review of the School’s principles, practices and processes for the development and realisation of the School’s race equality inclusion ambitions. Halpin Partnership was selected to manage the review. The Race Equality Review was published in 2019 and the report is available below. In order to monitor the recommendations of the review, the Board of Governors set up a new  Diversity and Inclusion Committee, chaired by an Independent Governor, Anne Mensah, Vice President, Original Series at Netflix.
