Our Research Aims

Embracing the core values of the civic university, sharing, listening, and enquiring shape what we do and how we do it: nurturing researchers as creative citizens embedded in intersecting local, national, international, and disciplinary communities.

We see our objectives for 2021-25 as:

• To reinforce and develop Central’s growing research infrastructure in order to: ensure the continuation of a vibrant PGR programme; bring continuing projects with key industry and HE partners to completion; foster new ventures and collaborations focussing on challenge-led research.
• To commit to a sustainable research culture informed by and responsive to the needs of both local and wider communities through enhanced social engagement (with NGOs, charities, local authorities, health and care professions, migrant groups, etc.).
• To promote research that foregrounds marginalised practices, underrepresented groups, and increased democratisation and equity in the arts.
