Theatre Practice Exhibition

On Thursday 9 and Friday 10 May, Central hosted the 2019 BA Theatre Practice Exhibition, celebrating the accomplishments of graduating students from across all twelve courses on its BA (Hons) Theatre Practice programme.

These students have spent the past three years developing their specialist practice in preparation for wide-ranging careers within performance and associated arts.  They are highly motivated collaborators who are excited by words, performance, music, art, fashion and architecture, and are ready to innovate the future of the creative industries.

During the two days of the exhibition, work was displayed across the School’s campus, including in its new North Block building and on the Embassy Theatre stage, before an audience of industry professionals, close friends and family, and members of the public.

Central’s Principal, Professor Gavin Henderson, said:

“Central is truly a crucible of creative thinking and making.  These are difficult times, and difficult times so often inspire artistic creation and leadership, vision and originality.  We hope that you will find much of interest in this exhibition and thank you for your support of these remarkable students at the threshold of their professional careers.”

Central’s Head of Theatre Practice, Dr Kathrine Sandys, said:

“Through encountering many different models of theatre and performance practice, in collaborations across and beyond the School, students develop depth in their specialist skills.  They work with collaborative and devised theatre theatre, acting, musical theatre, drama, applied theatre and education and acting for screen, as well as with professional companies and individuals.  Graduates are able to develop careers with the critically reflective skills and knowledge necessary to continually evolve and innovate as potential leaders in their field.”

Central’s Theatre Practice students receive high-quality, specialist training from staff who are active in industry and also enjoy access to first-rate facilities, placement opportunities and excellent graduate job prospects.  They graduate with unparalleled practical experience of working on a range of performances in different spaces and venues in Central and beyond, and are truly specialists in their nominated field of interest having developed their professional identity and networks whilst learning on the course.
