Live Stream of Complicite's 'The Encounter' | The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama

Friday, 26 February 2016

On Tuesday 1 March, Central is excited to be doing something new… turning our website into a theatre!

Visit us at 7.30pm GMT to watch the live stream of internationally acclaimed theatre company Complicite’s new show The Encounter.

Central is proud of its close links with Complicite and of the large number of alumni and friends who have been involved in bringing The Encounter to life.  Complicite is in creative partnership with Central’s BA (Hons) Acting Collaborative and Devised Theatre course and Catherine Alexander, Central’s Reader in Theatre Making and Course Leader of BA (Hons) Acting Collaborative and Devised Theatre, is an associate director for the company.  The recent Collaborative and Devised Theatre production of This Is Not A Drill, which played over two weeks at the Tristan Bates Theatre, was directed by Central alumna Jemima James who is the Assistant Director for the show.  Director Simon McBurney is an Honorary Fellow of the School, as is Central alumnus and Sound Designer for The Encounter, Gareth Fry.  And working with Gareth Fry on Sound Design is fellow Central alumnus Pete Malkin.

Described as ‘sensational’ (Variety) and ‘a tour de force that shows contemporary theatre at its most immersive and thought provoking’ (Financial Times), The Encounter is currently playing a sold out run at London’s Barbican theatre.

Please note that audiences must wear headphones to watch the live stream, or the effect of the binaural recording will be lost. Any headphones will work, but playing the film out of speakers will not give the same effect.

The live stream is free to watch on Tuesday 1 March 2016 at 7.30pm GMT, and it will also be available on demand for a week after the live broadcast.

Follow Central on Twitter for updates and a reminder about the live stream.
