Theatre Criticism Today, hosted by MA Theatre Criticism and Dramaturgy

Sorry, this event has now passed

Join MA Theatre Criticism and Dramaturgy course leader Dr. Joel Anderson and theatre critic Matt Trueman for an evening of discussion focused on theatre reviewing in the age of online reviewing.

In conjunction with Central’s MA Theatre Criticsim and Dramaturgy, this exploratory evening focuses on how criticism forms part of today's theatre landscape, in London or beyond.

Also joining Joel and Matt will be critic and blogger Maddy Costa, Time Out Theatre Editor Andzrej Lukowski and actress Stephanie Street.

There will also be an opportunity for those interested in the MA Theatre Criticism and Dramaturgy course to find out more about it.

The event will be followed by a small drinks reception.

About MA Theatre Criticism and Dramaturgy

The cultural hub of London is the venue for MA Theatre Criticism and Dramaturgy. The programme balances theoretical study of theatre and performance with the development of diverse skills in dramaturgy and criticism. Graduates can apply this in academia and throughout the creative industries.

Engaging with theatre and performance practice of the past and the present, and attuned to the economy and ecology of the landscapes in which it takes place, students on this course embrace Central’s unique status as a conservatoire and a University of London college, a vibrant setting fostering the international theatre practice and scholarship of the future.

About Matt Trueman

Matt Trueman writes regularly for The Guardian, Time Out, New Statesman and The Stage.

Whilst on Central's MA Advanced Theatre Practice, Matt was part of the performance group ‘Present Attempt,’ which performed their final work at the Edinburgh Festival and was short-listed for a Total Theatre Award. At subsequent Edinburgh Festivals Matt has won five Allen Wright awards – three times in the reviews category and twice for features. The award is given for arts journalism at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival by writers under the age of 30.
