Current Research Projects | The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama

Central staff are involved in a variety of research projects ranging from solo performance projects to large scale community ventures.

Much of our research operates at the intersection with industry and is realised with partners from a range of sectors, including theatres, film bodies, local authorities, NGOs, charities, cultural festivals, and the museum sector. Some of these projects are driven by blue skies research where outcomes are open-ended and exploratory. Others are commissioned by industry collaborators and have a clear client-driven purpose.

Many of our researchers work with internationally-based colleagues in Argentina, Nigeria, Russia, South Africa, Spain and the USA. Our partners include actors, filmmakers, mathematicians, medics, policy makers and social workers, and we try to ensure that our research is relevant, timely and rigorous.
