Summer Theatre Company

Over the course of three weeks of intensive training and rehearsal, you will work collaboratively with an experienced director and a company of students actors, to create and share a piece of live theatre.

The course explores contemporary acting techniques and offers the opportunity bring to life a theatre text and discover who you are as a performer within an ensemble.  You will grow your performance skillset and work in a collaborative atmosphere to investigate listening to yourself and your fellow actors. You will develop tools for reading, researching and unlocking a text, expanding the actor’s imagination and ability to be truthful in the moment.

The collaborative journey of developing a performance alongside an ensemble of other actors, guided by the skillful leadership of a talented director, can be one of the most rewarding experiences for any actor.  The three-week Summer Theatre Company at Central is the opportunity to do exactly that.

Course Content

Your director will choose a text for you to work on, gather together the company and set out the map for the coming weeks as you get to know the campus, your teachers, and your fellow actors. You will have the opportunity to work with voice and movement specialists to further your craft.

At the end of the third week, you and your fellow students will have the opportunity to put everything you have learned to the test. With your lines learned and your scenes rehearsed, you will stage a semi-realised show to which friends and family are welcome to attend.
