In November, Central staff took part in the 2020 Being Human Festival, the UK’s national festival of the humanities, led by the School of Advanced Study, University of London in partnership with the Arts & Humanities Research Council and the British Academy.
From 26 – 29 October Central’s Learning Skills programme, in collaboration with the Centre for Race, Education and Decoloniality at Leeds Beckett University, was pleased to present the second annual series of events for ‘Black History’ Interruptions.
In Autumn 2020, Central was pleased to host the annual Collisions Festival, Collisions 2020 Online: Shifting Perceptions in a new format, and to bring together – online – a wider academic and public audience to celebrate and showcase the School’s thriving doctoral research community.

Central is thrilled to celebrate news that on Sunday 25 October our alumni picked up numerous awards at both the Black British Theatre Awards and the Olivier Awards ceremonies.
Central is excited to announce the launch of series two of its Discover Central Podcast. Hosted by Scott Bellamy, the podcast takes an inside look at Central and introduces listeners to members of the School’s student, staff and alumni community.
We sit down with Central’s Dr Nicola Abraham and Dementia specialist healthcare worker Victoria Ruddock to discuss their work with the Dementia Care Team and their patients at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. We also find out about their special music video for original song ‘Have a Little Faith’, which was co-written by Nicola and her dad, Dave Abraham, and performed by Victoria for one of her patients. The video has now been released by the NHS and Imperial Health Charity and is being shared as part of a special fundraiser in support of the NHS.
Central is pleased to announce appointments to its Independent Equity Committee, an independent membership body formed of Black and Global Majority industry professional and academics with experience and expertise in anti-racist leadership in arts and/ or education.
On Wednesday 30 September, Central students lit the School’s buildings red in support of the Global Action Day for the ongoing #WeMakeEvents Campaign.
The National Theatre, The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and the AHRC London Arts and Humanities Partnership are pleased to announce the launch of a new Podcast Series: That Black Theatre Podcast.
Congratulations to Central’s MA/MFA Advanced Theatre Practice students who, from 7 – 12 September, presented the inaugural Form(at) Festival, a festival of ‘performance for the not-too-distant future’.
