For 255 days, from September 2017 to Thursday 12th April 2018, Chris Dercon was Artistic Director of the Berlin Volksbühne theatre. At Central's recent international conference, Systemic Crisis in European Theatre, he made his first public appearance since his dismissal two weeks prior, discussing his tenure with Central's Professor of European Theatre, Professor Peter Boenisch - watch the full discussion here.
Kate Elswit (PI, University of London, The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama) and Harmony Bench (CI, The Ohio State University) have been awarded over £566,000 by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) for a three-year research project.
Following on from her earlier research projects, Professor Sally Mackey has been awarded nearly £200,000 of a major new grant with Bexley Council for: Performing Places Bexley.
From December 2017 to January 2018 London’s arebyte gallery presented fronterlebnis, an exhibition by Central’s Research Fellow Dr Dani Ploeger.

Central's associate artist, London-based arts company Fevered Sleep – described by the Guardian as ‘boundary-smashing’ - and their Co-Artistic Director, Central's Professor of Interdisciplinary Performance David Harradine, bring a new version of their highly acclaimed dance piece, ‘Men & Girls Dance’ to Tate Britain this summer.
