Congratulations to final year BA (Hons) Acting Collaborative and Devised Theatre student Natasha Stone who has achieved the runner-up award as a finalist for the 2022 BBC Hobbes Bursary Award, and to final year BA (Hons) Acting Musical Theatre student William Marr who has received a Special Commendation.

Congratulations to Dr Kate Elswit, a Reader in Theatre Performance at Central, who has been awarded a Research Development and Engagement Fellowship from the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC). The Fellowship builds on Dr Elswit’s longstanding working collaboration with Dr Harmony Bench (The Ohio State University).

The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama is delighted to announce the appointment of Bryce Lease as its incoming Professor of Theatre and Performance Studies and Head of Knowledge Exchange.

In February, Central is taking part in the British Council’s Creative Bridge Programme, a professional development programme that aims to connect cultural professionals and artists.

On 28 January, Central hosted the Association for Lighting Production and Design (ALPD) and White Light Limited New Technology Showcase 2022.  Run jointly with the ALPD and White Light Ltd, the Showcase provides top industry professionals and those currently in formal training with an opportunity to explore and compare the latest lighting technology available on the market.

The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama is delighted to announce the appointment of Mark Hunter as Vice-Principal (Curriculum and Students).  Mark will join Central in April and will have specific leadership responsibility for learning, teaching and the student experience including curriculum development.

On 25 and 26 November, Central returned to the Curve Theatre in Leicester with its BA (Hons) Acting Musical Theatre, BA (Hons) Theatre Practice, MFA Scenography and MFA Movement: Directing and Teaching production of Alice.

Congratulations to the Class of 2020 and the Class of 2021, who both graduated from Central on Monday 6 December in ceremonies held at London’s Royal Festival Hall.

Central launches the Recite Me accessibility toolbar on its website to coincide with The International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2021. As part of Central’s Diversity and Inclusion strategy, it aims to make the School’s website more accessible for its users.
