Congratulations to the numerous members of Central’s academic staff who have recently written or edited books, or who have contributed chapters to academic publications.
The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, together with partner organisations including the Royal Northern College of Music, University of the Arts London, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and the My Dementia Improvement Network, is pleased to announce that it has been awarded over £1.4 million in joint funding by the Office for Students and Research England.
Central’s work has been recognised as a part of Universities UK’s national #WeAreTogetherCampagin, a campaign to showcase all the ways universities are helping to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Central is proud to support the launch of the second annual International Online Theatre Festival, an online theatre festival showcasing the work of diverse global artists and hosted digitally by The Theatre Times.
A team of Central’s MA Applied Theatre students led by Dr Nicola Abraham and Jo James, Nurse Consultant at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, have collaborated with NHS patients on Auchi Ward at Hammersmith Hospital to create an immersive radio drama entitled ‘What Goes Around Comes Around’.
Congratulations to the MA Acting for Screen team behind the 2018 short film Lab Rat, which has won an Audience Choice Award at the Bull City International Film Festival.

Congratulations to Dr Nicola Abraham, Lecturer at Central in Applied Theatre Practices, who has been shortlisted for a Guardian University Award in the category of Teaching Excellence.
Dr Ella Parry-Davies is a British Academy Postdoctoral Fellow at Central and a BBC/ AHRC New Generation Thinker. She holds a PhD jointly funded by King’s College London and the National University of Singapore, and researches theatre and performance in contexts of transnational migration.
On Tuesday 3 March, nominations for the 2020 Olivier Awards were announced. Widely acknowledged as one of British theatre's most prestigious awards, these nominations demonstrate the range of productions, talent and enterprise showcased on our stages over the past year.
From 22 – 29 February, Central’s Acting Collaborative and Devised Theatre students working alongside students from the Theatre Practice course, and in collaboration with Complicité Creative Learning, present a special studio season at Theatre Peckham.
From 12 – 13 February, Central staff were pleased to represent the School at the Taut Danning Student Fair in Oslo Central.
