International Students
Central is situated in a traditionally residential area of London, with tree-lined roads, quiet neighbourhoods and many cultural activites. The School is opposite the Hampstead Theatre, one of London's most vibrant and pioneering new writing theatres; the legendary Roundhouse, which hosted the 2009 Accidental Festival with Central students, and the famous canalside at Camden Lock and the stalls and workshops of Camden Market are nearby. The green open spaces of Primrose Hill are within 10 minutes walking distance.
If you are considering coming to study at Central, we recommend that you make yourself aware of what to expect in a UK university college - modes of study and ways of life may be different from what you might expect in your own home country. We offer a one week pre-course for international students to make the transitions easier.
Before applying to Central please ensure that you meet the English language requirements and check the international fee information. In some countries Central offers international auditions & interviews, please check this section of the website for audition dates and locations.
All Central students enjoy access to the Senate House Library, while postgraduate and research students benefit from the proximity of the historic British Library. Central, as a Centre for Excellence and college of the University of London, gives you access to the UK higher education drama-sector network of public lectures, research seminars and theatre laboratories offered by pre-eminent international academics and practitioners.
Before you move to the UK to study you need to be aware of immigration and visa requirements. To make your move easier you can find information in this International section about accommodation options, setting up a bank account, working in the UK and student support services.
All this will be explained to you when you join us, but if you have questions about any aspect of study, do not hesitate to ask at your interview or audition. When you first join Central, you will receive an International Student Guide, and be invited to participate in the International Student Group where you can share experiences and receive advice. The Students' Union has an International Student Officer and the Admissions and Student Recruitment Office staff are available to help.
