Emily Read

Education & Training

Emily studied Theatre Performance at the Sydney Theatre School, graduating in 2010. In 2011, she moved to Paris and trained in Physical Theatre at École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq. Emily has also completed short courses in physical theatre and acting at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and the National Institute of Dramatic Art respectively. Emily is a certified Pilates Mats instructor.

Movement Experience (whilst on MA Movement: Directing and Teaching)

At Central, Emily has taught on the embodiment of the elements, teaching undergraduate acting students in assisting Vanessa Ewan. For her external placement practice Emily undertook movement direction practice with the National Youth Theatre London, working with Directors Cathy Owen and Caroline Giometta, and a group of young actors in the ‘Playing Up’ ensemble on two new productions staged in July 2014. Currently she is running daily morning warm-ups for the BA DATE students at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.
