Catherine McNamara joined Central School of Speech & Drama in 2003 as Lecturer on the PGCE programme. She later became Course Leader of the MA Applied Theatre (Drama in the Community & Drama Education) and is now Pro-Dean (Students). Catherine teaches on various MA and BA courses and has supervised at Doctorate level. As Pro-Dean (Students) she has a key role in enhancing the student experience at Central. She is Chair of the Equality & Diversity committee and manages the Learning Centre.

Sally Mackey is Professor in Applied Theatre and Performance having started teaching at Central in 1992 as a drama education specialist. (She is co-author of Drama and Theatre Studies, Stanley Thornes, 2000 and editor/author of Practical Theatre, Stanley Thornes, 1997.) She introduced ‘applied theatre’ to Central and still teaches predominantly in that field.

Liselle joined Central as BA (Hons). Drama, Applied Theatre and Education as Lecturer in 2004.

Liselle worked originally as a Drama Teacher before facilitating arts education and community theatre projects for over 10 years for companies including Half Moon Young People’s Theatre, The Unicorn Theatre For Children, in partnership with Graeae Theatre, and Besht Tellers, Eastern Europe.

Dr. Katharine Low, BA, MA, PhD

Katharine Low joined Central School of Speech & Drama in January 2011 having just completed her PhD in Applied Theatre at the University of Manchester.

Prior to teaching at Central, Katharine has taught on the MA in Applied Drama at Goldsmiths College, in addition to teaching at Manchester and Glasgow. At Central, Katharine teaches on the BA (Hons) Drama, Applied Theatre and Education.

As an applied theatre practitioner, Katharine has worked on numerous projects both within the UK and internationally, predominantly in South Africa and Tanzania.

An investigation into the impact of Neoliberalism on vulnerable young people, working in collaboration with inner city London based charity Kids Company. Investigating the current provisions provided by Kids Company in a variety of different settings and the problems facing both the service and the service users regarding sustainability.

Selina Busby, BA, PGCE, MA

Selina Busby joined Central in 2005 specialising in drama in prisons, youth theatre, TIE and British theatre of the 1990s.

Having taught drama and performing arts for several years at a further education college, as well as in schools and prisons, she then moved into higher education, working as a visiting lecturer at both Buckingham Chiltern University College and Royal Holloway University of London. Subsequently she was a tutor on the PGCE course at Central.
