2017 Assistant Movement Director to Natasha Harrison, Ode to Leeds, West Yorkshire Playhouse. Worked with a company of five professional actors to explore the movement languages of performance poetry.
2017 Assistant Movement Director to Jon Beney, Everything is Possible: The York Suffragettes, York Theatre Royal. Worked with a community cast of 150 people aged 5-85 on moments of mass movement.
2017 Assistant Movement Director to Lucy Cullingford, Musical Differences, Sheffield Theatres. Worked with the Sheffield People’s Theatre Young Company of actors aged 14-21 to develop ensemble movement and character physicalities.
2016 Assistant Movement Director to Ayse Tashkiran, Tidy Up R&D, Peut-Être Theatre. Worked with actor-dancers to create movement material for a new show for young children, exploring the themes of order and chaos.

Worked with First Year BA Drama Applied Theatre and Education students to develop movement skills for chorus work and devising, as well as to create specific movement elements for the production.

2016 ALRA North, Wigan. Taught on the Movement: Contextual Studies module for First Year BA Acting students which introduced them, practically and theoretically, to the work and processes of influential movement practitioners.
2015 Opera North, Hull. Worked alongside Movement Director Kieran Sheehan to devise and deliver creative movement workshops for young people as part of a pioneering and immersive social impact project.

2008-2010 East Riding Dance Group, Beverley. Assisted Movement Therapist Michaela Bullivant in the delivery of creative and somatic movement workshops for participants who had learning and physical disabilities.
Helen’s passion for theatre was ignited when she began training in dancing, acting and singing at the age of eight. Her current movement practice has been influenced by her experiences in many movement forms including jazz, ballet, tap, contemporary and break dance, athletics, gymnastics, judo, Sherborne Developmental Movement and her continued yoga practice.
It was whilst studying on the BA Writing, Directing and Performance at the University of York that Helen’s specific interest in actor movement began. She was involved in the HEA knowledge exchange project ‘Performing Classical and Modern Playtexts’ led by Professor Mary Luckhurst in relationship with national and international drama schools and universities. Through this project Helen undertook actor movement training influenced by the work of a number of movement practitioners, in particular Lecoq and Laban, and began to apply this to the creation of theatre productions. These experiences inspired Helen's independent research project titled 'The Movement Director in Modern British Theatre'.
Since graduating from York, Helen has worked for several theatre companies including the Octagon Theatre, Opera North, Stephen Joseph Theatre and Mind the Gap. She has led on and contributed to productions and training courses involving professional actors, community actors and young people.
Helen is passionate about inclusive practice and enjoys working with performers and artists of all abilities. She has extensive experience of working with people who have learning disabilities.
