Lear

By Edward Bond
Directors: Sarah Davey-Hull and Martin Wylde
Designer: Kate Driver
Performed by MA Acting students
Edward Bond's violent and bloody play echoes Shakespeare's great tragedy, with its personal and political power struggles, but also Chekhov's Three Sisters. Bond's passions anticipate the work of Kane and Ravenhill. Today a play about an aging and out-of-date leader brought down by a people's revolution reverberates with the seismic eruptions occurring in the Middle East and North Africa.
'Your law always does more harm than crime, and your morality is a form of violence.' Lear
