As I Lay Dying (Devised)

Adapted from the novel by William Faulkner
Directed by Yael Shavit

Performed by BA (Hons) Acting (Collaborative and Devised Theatre) students

In the wet heat of 1920s rural Mississippi, Addie Bundren lies dying. Her family and neighbours congregate.

As the waiting hours stretch out, a long and difficult journey looms; to honour a promise and bury Addie in a distant town.

In this masterpiece of atmosphere, landscape and characterisation Faulkner invites us into the inner worlds - the secrets, rivalries and longings of this unique set of characters.

Charting an absurd and often darkly comic journey, this new adaptation, devised by the company, explores the gulf that exists between each of us and those we know best.
