A Brief History of Everything (Devised)

Director: Stuart Angell; Musical Director: Derek Barnes;

Performed by MA Music Theatre students

We began this process with nothing more than a title and a task. The task was to devise a show which consisted of both existing material, as well as original writing by the students; the title was A Brief History of Everything. We now had to produce our show. With a title like that, the possibilities of the content are fairly endless, so our first job was to decide what the title meant to us. We agreed that we wanted to tell people's stories with our piece and to focus in on the little things we can relate to within the vastness of 'Everything'. For our show, 'Everything' would mean life, with all its lessons, surprises and mysteries. The performers have since found and written songs and scenes which they feel best illuminate these themes. A Brief History of Everything is a collection of moments which make up, well....everything. Stuart Angell
