Central ranked sixth in The Times Good University Guide
Central has been ranked sixth in the UK in The Times Good University Guide 2013. In the specialist area of Drama, Dance and Cinematics, Central demonstrated one of the highest levels of student satisfaction and the best graduate destinations score. The Times highlighted Central's achievement: "For the fourth year in a row, by far the best graduate destinations score is at the Central School of Speech & Drama, part of the University of London."
The Guardian University Guide 2013: league table for drama and dance also placed Central in the top ten. At eighth position, Central was awarded scores of over 90% in student satisfaction with course and with teaching.
In the Complete University Guide, Central ranked eighth within Drama, Dance and Cinematics; topping the list for graduate prospects and fifth for student satisfaction.
"This recognition is testament to Central's value to the UK performing arts industry as a whole, across all its departments and in all its forms. Our distinctive approach is to train small numbers of highly skilled specialists, within an environment modelled on contemporary professional practice and informed by the latest research in the field. That our graduate puppeteers, designers, technical staging experts, constructors, painters, drama teachers, applied theatre practitioners and actors, enjoy high levels of employment comes as no surprise to us. Many of them find employment before they leave us. But it is nonetheless gratifying for Central to be ranked so highly in a league table that pays such particular attention to employability. We are, after all, a conservatoire with a vocational mission that puts our students at the heart of everything we do." - Professor Ross Brown, Dean of Studies
These rankings continue Central's prominance for some years within these tables, particularly as an institution generating employable graduates and delivering student satisfaction.
