The Accidental Festival 2012
The Accidental Festival returns for another year at the Roundhouse, Camden on Thursday 31 May- Sunday 3 June 2012 as a multi-disciplinary event of emerging talents and established artists. The festival provides a platform to present engaging, entertaining and sometimes provoking work, encouraging artists from a range of disciplines to take risks, create and collaborate.
This annual event is entirely produced and organised by students from the Central School of Speech & Drama’s Performance Arts pathway, which is part of the BA (Hons) Theatre Practice course.
The Accidental Festival began, by accident, six years ago. Karl Rouse, Pathway Leader for Performance Arts, said that ‘through the great efforts of the student teams, the spirit of effective collaboration, and the generosity of our artists and audiences, it has become a community, part of the cultural calendar of London, and it is now noticed internationally’.
Since its conception in 2005 the festival has welcomed over 200 international guests, including Katie Mitchell, Simon McBurney, Liz LeCompte and Richard Schechner, Anne Bogart, Hilary Westlake, Felix Barret, Joel Scott and Julian Maynard-Smith.
