The Evolving Resource(s) of Visualisation as a Tool in Theatre and Performance Research
This paper addresses some of the ways in which digital resources can assist in highlighting spatiality and location to reformulate the potential of research in our fields. It focusses first on virtual recreations of several theatres that no longer exist. It then goes on to feature accounts for the mapping of productions and creative teams from one geographical or cultural context to another. The third strand investigates network visualisations, or the relationships between actors, other creative agents, as they move from production to production or place to place. These tools can facilitate in creating a better understanding of performance, of theatrical activity, and of the crucial movement of people and productions from one location to another.
