Deposits
To officially accept a place at the School, offer-holders may be required to pay a non-refundable deposit. This requirement will be outlined on your offer notification, and the amount will be deducted from your fees at registration. The deposit must be paid in order to accept your place.
The deposit is £1,000 for home postgraduate students, including EU nationals who have been granted settled status under the UK government’s EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS). Irish citizens are automatically treated as Home students in the UK and do not need to have applied to the EUSS.
Overseas students – including EU nationals not resident in the UK at the time of application – will pay £2,000.
Home undergraduate students – again, including settled EU nationals – are not required to pay a deposit if they are receiving a tuition fee loan via the Student Loans Company, however evidence of loan approval may be requested.
What fee will I pay?
We will assess your fee status prior to sending you an offer for a place on a course, and will request certain documents from you in order to do so. Please see below for some general guidance.
UK (Home Students)
UK nationals will usually pay the ‘Home student’ fee, where they are ordinarily resident in the UK. Students living in the Crown Dependencies (eg. Isle of Man or Channel Islands) are eligible for home fee status on the basis of 3 years’ residency in the UK or Islands.
If the course you are applying for at Central is an equivalent or lower qualification to one you already hold, then you will need to pay the ‘Overseas student’ fee as your status will be referred to as ELQ (Equivalent or Lower Qualification). For example, if you already hold a Masters qualification and are applying to study for another MA at Central. Certain students, such as those in receipt of Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) or those holding a PGCE as their highest qualification, are exempt from ELQ status.
Overseas
Students from outside the UK will normally be charged an overseas fee rate. This includes EU, EEA and Swiss nationals starting a course from Autumn 2022, who will no longer be eligible for ‘Home’ fee status. EU, EEA and Swiss nationals who started their courses before August 2021, however, will remain eligible for ‘Home’ fee status for the remainder of their studies.

All fees shown are for students enrolled on the corresponding programme and year of study in 2023/24. Students studying subsequent years of their programme in 2024/25 (and beyond) can expect these figures to rise year-on-year. For undergraduate Home UK students, fees will be capped at a level set each year by the government. All other students’ fees are protected by maximum year-on-year fee increases of 5% above inflation (inflation being defined by the consumer price index in the preceding January). Fees for subsequent years of any programme will be confirmed prior to that academic year, and are payable before commencing that year of the programme.
Additional costs
There may be some limited additional course costs not covered by the tuition fees for materials, equipment, or field trips required for your studies. Information regarding these additional costs can be seen below (PDF documents). You will also receive it with your electronic offer pack. Where a course requires a student to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, the associated fee will normally be paid by the student.

Packages can range between £20 per month or more depending on the length of the contract, speed, add-ons and download limitations. Check out the Guide to Student Broadband from Money Supermarket which gives helpful tips for you to consider.Other items that you may want to think about purchasing are:
