Road takes place on a single street in a north country city during the Thatcher era. Unemployment and poverty have blighted the hopes of the young and robbed the old of their dignity. A heightened and surreal patchwork of damaged lives, Road sounds a warning to our politicians in these troubled times, not to repeat the mistakes of the past.
