Qualification Certificates and Transcripts

Qualification Certificates & Transcripts

Student_Production_Working

Alumni who were made an academic award can request proof of their qualifications. The form this can take depends on the course, year of award and Central’s academic records archive.

Certificates

If you did not receive your original certificate from the University of London, please refer to the notice issued by them with your results letter or contact The University of London’s Diploma Production and Dispatch Office. Certificates are normally produced approximately three months after your results are published and received by the School’s Academic Board. They are sent by recorded delivery in the UK and by airmail overseas.

If you did not receive your original certificate from The Open University it is possible that Central’s Academic Records Office has it on site. Please complete the Verification of Awards form to request confirmation of your award, ensuring you add specific additional information.

If you require a duplicate certificate because your original has been lost or destroyed, please contact the awarding body directly as guided below. If you are unsure of the year your award was made, please contact aro@cssd.ac.uk.

Generally, awards were made as follows:

Central

Pre-1992, Central School of Speech and Drama

No replacement certificates are available, please request an academic transcript or confirmation of award using the Verification of Awards form.

1992-March 2006, The Open University

Please use The Open University’s Awards and Aftercare Service.

July 2006-present, The University of London

Please contact The University of London’s Diploma Production and Dispatch Office.

Certificates or diplomas detail your name, final award and classification (where applicable), and are issued by an awarding body according to Central’s pass lists.

The name that appears on your certificate will be the name held on School records at the time of the recommendation of your award as per School Academic Regulations. A change can only be made where an administrative error has occurred or where the School is required to make a retrospective change under the provisions of the Gender Recognition Act 2004. In both cases, graduates should contact aro@cssd.ac.uk stating their new name, name at time of study, programme and final awardplus evidence of the name change (such as deed poll or passport). This begins the process of the Academic Records Office liaising with the University of London or Open University as relevant to issue a replacement. The incorrect certificate may need to be returned, destroyed or declared lost. Where other types of name changes have been made after the issue of certificates, they should be proven with accompanying documentation when presenting award certificates.

Transcripts and Confirmations of study

Transcripts detail your dates of study, course, units that you studied, your marks/grades, final award and classification (where applicable). Confirmation of award or study letters details your dates of study, course, final award and classification (where applicable). Both documents are issued by Central from our academic records and can be requested by completing the Verification of Awards form.

Verification of award requests will take between 10 and 20 working days to complete during the busy summer period - August to September.

Your request will be fulfilled by the Academic Records Office. Please contact us by emailing aro@cssd.ac.uk or telephoning +44 (0)20 7449 1640.

Webber Douglas Academy

Please request confirmation of award by completing the Verification of Awards form.

World Education Services (WES)

Alumni who wish to have their studies with Central verified through WES can request to have the required documentation sent directly to WES digitally.

Make your application with WES then complete the Verification of Awards form using the Additional Information box to detail the documents you require to be sent and your WES reference number (7-digit number). The Academic Records Office will process your request and applicants normally receive notification of the document being received through their WES account.

Third party verifications

Employers, agencies, universities, embassies and councils who wish to verify whether a candidate is a current or past student, the award and grade they received and their dates of attendance can find us on the Higher Education Degree Datacheck (HEDD). This site can also be used to authenticate us as a UK registered degree awarding institution.

The system has been developed by Graduate Prospects, in consultation with universities, employers and screening agencies. Funded by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) and launched by Graduate Prospects, Hedd is now being used by many institutions throughout the UK.

The online candidate verification service allows registered enquirers to input data provided by applicants (name, date of birth, institution, year of graduation, qualification classification etc). You will also be required to upload a consent form.

If you as a third party have any problems or queries, please email heddhelp@prospects.ac.uk, including your phone number if you would like a call back.
